As promised this is a catch up post on whats been going with me.
Where last we left off....my relationship with Leigh was at an all time low. I really thought it was over but last Monday she surprised me with cuddling up with me in bed....no nothing triple X folks...get your minds out of the gutter. We had a good talk and I feel she understands my concerns and worries more so then before. We are still feeling our way through and we both have a lot of work to do but things are a lot better.
Saw Star Trek Beyond on TUesday and it was better than the first two installments in the Kelvin timeline. It was nice how they tied a lot of things together. No worries no spoilers.
Reading Allan Mallinson's Act of War and so far it hasn't disappointed me yet. For those not familiar with Allan Mallinson, he is a former Brigadier from the British Army. His books are about Matthew Hervey, a British dragoon officer from the Napoleonic Wars and a little after. If you like Sharpe or Hornblower, you will enjoy these.
Gaming wise...I am still playing Fallout 4...I think I am only 24% through. I am very happy with this because I have played for almost 200 hours and I am nowhere near finished. This one I am definitely getting my value for my money. I am playing a bit of World of Warships but not as much as I usually do. I am not playing any Pokemon Go. No way in Hell am I touching that one. Table Top my All for One is still in hiatus. We started our new One Ring game last Wednesday. This time I am playing a Rider of Rohan that goes by the name Grim. I haven't got a feel yet for this character but that should come as I get to know him. We would have played 7th Sea tomorrow night but Pierre was unable to make it so rather than lose a gaming opportunity with my monthly group, I am running a Night's Black Agents one shot. Hoping this one shot becomes something more permanent. We shall see.
I got notice that First Contact was shipping....Spy was shipping....Infected was soon to ship and best of all I got my Polaris RPG last week. I have said in on JohnKs blog and I will say it here. It is a thing of beauty. Its definitely the most attractive rpg I own. And I own quite a few.
I cleaned all of my firearms the other day and it took hours. Not that I am complaining its a job that has to be done and I enjoy doing it.

Did you ever dread getting up, being at home and going to work. I am in a serious conflict with my girlfriend, there is some major shit going on here at work. Its to the point where I dread being at home and being at work. No place is my refuge. :(
Last night I got off the bus and walked home (that was almost an hour). Good exercise I suppose I can look at it from that angle. The night before when I had my car I got off the ferry and spent an hour just sitting there. On my way I stopped and parked for about 45 minutes.
Usually when I am this frustrated I would go to the range and go through a couple of hundred rounds. I had no interest. I did not even want to game this week. I hate it when my depression becomes this crippling. My anxiety and depression meds are just not cutting it this time. No worries though, I don't feel like offing myself. I just do not want to be anywhere. I don't want to do anything. I don't want to be with anyone. A caveat to that though, my cats....I always want to be around my cats. At least I know I am loved unconditionally without any judgment.
Now that everyone is gone from the AGNS (well except for me and the administrative assistant) things are quiet. Last night was eventful. I had to call the HRP on a group of youths hanging out in the AGNS courtyard. There are signs posted and generally I don't bother with the kids but last night they escalated and pointed flood lights (we have several in the courtyard) at our security cameras. The cops came but they got away but I will be keeping an eye out for them tonight.
On the RPG side of the house, we wrapped up our One Ring campaign unexpectedly when we had a tpk. We were not thinking and the 4 characters attacked 4 trolls. It was a slaughter but sometimes players don't make wise decisions and Wednesday night proved that. We will still continue with One Ring but I am leaning towards a Rider of Rohan this time around. My AfO game is still on hiatus. On the 31st, we were suppose to do Session #3 of 7th Sea and I was started to do my prep, when Pierre had to cancel. Apparently his upcoming wedding has priority over RPing. Imagine that? Lol. Anyways we will still get together on that day sans Pierre but I will be running a one shot of Nights Black Agents. I am really hoping the others get into it as I really want to run it. I guess the 31st will decide that.
I am a little annoyed with BBE and AKA Games. For whatever reason, whenever these two send me links for pdfs in my email, for whatever reason I cannot click on them and download. They have told me its my browser but I have use Google, IE, Opera, Firefox and Safari with the same result. I have sent both messages and posted on the comments section and I feel like I am being ignored. I will keep at them but if this goes on much longer, I know I will never back a KS either of them run again. I will let you know how this goes.
If JohnK is reading this, I was wondering if you would be willing to provide details or maybe pics of the store you used to have? I am curious to see if its the one I have a vestige memory of when I was at the NDMC all those years ago. I know I went there several times during the weeks I was being treated and I was permitted out on day passes.
Happy Canada Day LJ people...(hey its one minute before midnight so it still counts). Had a fairly good day today. Leigh and I went down to Truro to see the Beach Boys in concert with her folks. Prior to that we hit Jungle Jims's for an early supper before the festivities started.
The Beach Boys are ageless....they were phenomenal and with all the deaths in the entertainment industry as of late. I don't think we will be seeing much more of them in the next few years. I hope I am proven wrong in this...we will see....
We haven't played One Ring for a couple of weeks but with summer, this groups playing frequency slows down. My All for One game is one hiatus for the for see able future so that is disappointing. The guys, however seem to be enjoying 7th Sea. Our next game is scheduled for 31 July and with some of the party's actions I am going to deviate from the current campaign and start a little side adventure. Who knows, it may lead into another side campaign, depending on their actions. On the PC I am currently playing Fallout4 and World of Warships.
All and all things have been relatively ok...not great but not bad either. I am hoping to maintain my mood at this level. I applied for an armed guard position at Brinks so I am hoping I can get on there and continue at the AGNS.
Take care LJ. I am going back to surfing and am enjoying a Glennfidich.
Well I never really left I just have not been blogging like I should be.
So I have a bit of angst going on in my life. In the wake of that horrible and tragic shooting in Orlando, for some people I know, I seem to have participated in the massacre. All because of my pro gun stance. I make no secret where I stand so it should not be a surprise to anyone. I am up front about it, I have nothing to hide nor am I ashamed of owning guns, firing guns and enjoying guns. I don't condone murder. I don't know any firearms owner who does. I do advocate the defensive use of firearms, whether that is at home or out and about. I also advocate training and to maintain a degree of competency and safety. I don't think you need to go down town with an AR15 on your back. If you want one for home defense than by all means but I disagree with carrying one around. All one needs is a decent pistol, a couple of spare mags and you are all set. I know many disagree. Some would even say I am more apt to kill someone. If gun owners were as violent as antigunners say we are there would be no antigunners. That meme is so true.
So to you antigunners out there....BACK OFF!!! I am not going to change my stance. I strongly believe in the right for self defence for myself and my family.
I am so excited I got my Polaris pdfs....I so cannot wait to run it...
I know my buddy in Ottawa....Mr John Kahane will be running it so I look forward to his blog posts on that.
Take care LJ and a 21 Glock salute to you all...
It has almost been a month since I last posted but sadly I can't say I have been busy. Been down in the dumps regarding our finances so I have not really felt like doing a whole hell of a lot.
Bookwise....I finished The Iron Ship and look forward to its sequel. I am glad I kept with it, it has a lot of promise as a series. My home book these days is the latest from Tom Kratman's The Rods and Axe from his A Desert Called Peace series and as my travel book I am reading Katherine Kurtz' The King's Deryni. KK is probably in my top 3 of favourite authors but I wish she would release books more frequently.
Gaming...Still playing World of Warships. I have taken a hiatus from Covert Ops 3 as there is a certain place I cannot get beyond and it frustrates me greatly. On the roleplaying side of the coin I have taken over GM duties for my Sunday crew. I ran 7th Sea and it seemed well received with our next session looking like it will happen in June. Our Wednesday night game of One Ring is going really well. Our group is having a lot of fun with it. Sadly my one on one game with Glenn has been put on hiatus until further notice because of his girlfriend's son moving in. I am disappointed....very disappointed but what can you do eh?
That's it for now. A 21 Glock salute to my friend J Kahane who survived this year CanGames in Ottawa this year.
Take care LJ
Wow the 5th month of the year already...time flies by fast when you past the 40 years old mark and this year I will be 8 years past. Ugh.
Can't say much has been going on. I have been enjoying the last series for the Musketeers and Game of Thrones plus my other shows. I just finished the 2nd Season of The Borgias and am contemplating what to watch next. Not sure what I am in the mood for. Haven't seen a movie at the theatre since Star Wars: Force Awaken. Can't say there is much out there that grabs my interest.
Book wise I am reading The Iron Ship by KM McKinley. Steampunkish fantasy, I was regretting buying this book for the first 75 pages and was going to get rid of it but it finally clicked. So far so good. Books have 50-100 pages to get my interest, movies 15 minutes before I put away or walk away. I guess I am like the moth that only likes bright lights.
Game wise...back to World of Warships and deleted Star Trek Online. Role playing wise still doing One Ring on Wednesday and All for One about every other week on the computer with Glenn. My once/twice a month group that I host in my game room sat down and created characters for 7th Sea. Pierre is playing a Vesten (Viking) Laerdom (rune based) Mage. Andrew made of a Castillian Swordsman Noble, Eric is playing an Eisan Noble swordsman and Rob a French Noble Swordsman. I may bring in an NPC, I currently have an Avalonian Archer who is a doctor. Yeah I know weird combination. Not sure when I will bring him in, maybe once I see how they do as a group. Our first actual session is looking like 22 May. That all depends on schedules of course.
That its for now. See I told you nothing much was going on. A shoutout to my friend JohnK in Ottawa who has been feeling a little under the weather lately. Hoping you feel better soon my friend.
See you LJ.
found out I am going to have to pay in to Revenue Canada....I made so much less this year then in previous years. Everything is going to the dogs with Trudeau and his cronies not having a clue how to run this country...so much for the promise of more money back into the middle class...no doubt the start of so many lies...but hey we had to invest 2 billion or so into that project in India.
Hope all of you have been doing well. I can't bitch or moan about anything myself so all is good. Hmmmmm what can I type about today.....well I started my new work cycle of on for 2 off for 2. Can't say I am impressed but what else is new.
Finished watching X Company last night....good show despite the fact its a CBC production. What I would like to know is who was the military advisor for that show? Whomever he is, he should be shot....giving Canadian soldiers M1 Carbines!!!! Where is your head??? Lots of surprises. I am looking forward to Season 3 in 2017.
Went to Mizu with Leigh the other night. We were there with friends before but felt a little rushed. It was nice to go back and order at our leisure. What is Mizu the LJ audience asks....well, I am glad you asked. Mizu is an all you can eat Asian restaurant that is mainly a sushi place but has a nice variety of cooked items as well. We will definitely be back.
Started a new to me online game. I started Star Trek Online and I must say I am impressed. I have a heavily modified Miranda class cruiser with an Andorian as my character. What I really like about this game is starship combat is 3D. You can do rolls, be upside down, etc. That's one of the downfalls I think about sci fi tv shows and movies is that combat is 1D.
I am playing One Ring on Wednesday and All for One on Thursday so I am looking forward to that. I am also working on my upcoming 7th Sea game. No rest for the criminally insane lol.
That's it for now. Stay frosty....
